Adjustable pedestals for wood

Adjustable terrace pedestals for wooden decks: the strong, durable, and easy-to-install solution

Installing a wooden deck on adjustable terrace pedestals is a simple, fast, and effective way to create an aesthetic, durable, and perfectly stable outdoor space.
This solution allows decking boards to be installed on uneven ground while ensuring proper ventilation and optimal protection of the substructure. At SOLIDOR, we offer a complete range of adjustable pedestals specifically designed for wooden decks. They are suitable for any type of project: residential, commercial, or public.

What is the purpose of adjustable terrace pedestals for wooden decks?

Adjustable pedestals provide support for the decking structure, correct uneven surfaces, and ensure a perfectly level result. They eliminate the need for concrete slabs or ground anchoring, helping to avoid heavy construction work.

By creating a space between the ground and the decking boards, air circulation is improved, the supporting structure remains drier, and the lifespan of the materials is extended. The raised structure also allows for efficient rainwater drainage and provides space for cables or piping under the deck if needed.

How do you ensure the stability of a wooden deck on terrace pedestals?

The stability of a deck starts with proper alignment and following the correct installation guidelines. It’s important to choose the right joists, whether wooden or aluminium. The spacing between the deck pedestals and the joists must match the dimensions of the decking material and the load the deck will need to support. As a standard, pedestals are placed every 45 cm.
In addition, a well-prepared surface, a level base, and selecting the correct starting point are key to building a strong and durable structure. Adjustable pedestals help compensate for uneven ground, ensuring a stable foundation.
If you prefer using aluminium profiles instead of wooden joists, we offer the Deqsol range. This aluminium support system can be combined with three different types of deck pedestals (see above), so you can always choose the ideal support for your decking project.

What is the maximum load capacity of a terrace pedestal?

All SOLIDOR pedestals from the Comfort and Premium ranges are designed to support heavy loads — up to 2,400 kg/m². The Firesol pedestals can handle even more: up to 3,000 kg/m².

This high strength makes it easy to install wooden decks that support garden furniture, jacuzzis, or other heavy elements, as long as the correct spacing between pedestals and joists is respected. For larger decks or public spaces, we recommend the Comfort or Firesol range for maximum long-term stability.

What is the recommended spacing between terrace pedestals for a wooden deck?

The spacing between terrace pedestals depends directly on the type and dimensions of the joists. For traditional wooden joists, a spacing of 40 to 60 cm is generally recommended. For aluminium joists or slimmer profiles, a shorter distance may be required.

The closer the pedestals are placed, the more stable the structure will be. Likewise, a consistent spacing between the joists themselves (typically around 40 cm) is needed to provide proper support for the decking boards.
