Planning to build your terrace with this spring weather?
Spring is in full bloom – the perfect time to transform your outdoor space into a wonderful place to relax. Did you know that you can build a terrace without using glue? With adjustable terrace pedestals, you can easily install tiles or decking boards at the right height – without the need for wet screed or cement.
A terrace with tiles or wooden boards can be installed in several ways. One of the most effective methods is by using terrace pedestals. Terrace pedestals can be easily installed on stabilized sand, concrete slabs, gravel mats, pressure-resistant drainage mats, or rooftop surfaces like EPDM or bitumen roofing.
Are they really stable?
It is a common belief that a terrace on pedestals is less stable. Nothing could be further from the truth. With proper installation, precise height adjustment, and a well-planned distribution of pedestals over the substrate, you can achieve a strong and durable terrace.
- For large-format tiles, it is recommended to use the Structusol aluminium support system. This system, supported by terrace pedestals, distributes the weight optimally and makes the installation of large tiles easier and faster.
- For wooden decking boards, the Linup aluminium click-and-slide system is ideal. It combines stability with easy installation.
- If you prefer working with traditional terrace pedestals, you can also opt for the Sticksol self-adhesive top plate. This plate features a bitumen adhesive layer that prevents tiles from rattling and protects against wind uplift.

For the calculation of your terrace and an installation plan, you can use the free SOLIDOR calculator. In this calculator, you can input all your dimensions, and based on your entered measurements, a complete layout plan will be provided.
Advantages at a glance:
- Fast and dry installation
A terrace on support pedestals can be installed at any time – rain or sun makes no difference. - Space for pipes and wiring
The open space between the pedestals is ideal for neatly hiding pipes, wiring, or drainage pipes. - Optimal drainage
Water easily drains away between the open joints. This prevents water accumulation on the terrace, reducing the risk of frost damage and ensuring a longer lifespan for your terrace. - Durable and low-maintenance
Since the tiles are placed loosely on the pedestals, they can be easily replaced or lifted for maintenance. This means fewer worries in the long term. Additionally, the tiles can be replaced and reinstalled on the same support structure using the pedestals.
Finishing and extras:
The days when there were no finishing options with terrace pedestals are over. A terrace supported by pedestals can be finished in various ways. Within the SOLIDOR range, there are several finishing accessories available, as well as finishing methods for the aluminum support systems offered by SOLIDOR.

In addition to the traditional accessories, SOLIDOR has also launched the Sidesol range. These profiles can be combined with terrace pedestals and are available in three heights and three different colours.
